I really like the new interface on the latest v3 software from EE. However it was very similar to the previous version but had many more bells and whistles.

That radio has now been upgraded and runs the latest Thetis software.īefore the upgrade there was a real concern about the new interface and difficulty in getting familiar. I had a Anan 100D for a while but sold that to upgrade to a Anan Apache 7000 DLE 2. I still have that radio and it now has a dedicated Peli Case to reside in. The little Anan 10e (Hermes) was the radio that persuaded me to sell everything else in the shack. Like you, at this end a big fan of the TAPR > OpenHPSDR > Anan initiative.

Just checked out your QRZ page and love the skin on the Thetis software.

Be a cold day in hell when I'm forced to dig thru drop down windows just to execute basic functions that even sdr console has as standard.and FREE! If they don't i'll probably be selling the sun. Just praying they bring back the V2 GUI in V3.

I like the 2 dx but can't touch the apache running the new thetis. All practical, speed enhancing improvements. Really a masterful job and definitely "community" approached from a developmental standpoint. In theits all controls are smartly placed on the main gui and paired with a midi controller is just mind bendingly awesome. I jump back and forth trying to get it to work like the apache and it just won't. The lack of a true agc-t on the sun is my biggest gripe. That auto agc-t feature on the new thetis is insane.

With the latest update Richie has going I can tell ya, though the front end of the 2 dx is a little nicer/smoother to listen to (fixed with a little rx eq to stomp down some of the harshness on the 200), Thetis is now the true force to be reckoned with. I have the 2 dx as well as the apache 200d running thetis on protocol 1. Richie is working continuously on Thetis updates. I'll second Tom: of all the SDR radios and applications for them, I have used and been around EESDR is easily my #1 pick.Īnother thing making it open source can eventually do- Eat up development time and the abilities to put out new software- as it becomes a logistical pain in the ass, and fighting over what should and shouldn't be in releases, feelings get in the way of coding and shit rolls downhill. While yes open source has it place, I personally don't see a good move for that with EESDR- software- another thing keeping it in house means they will attend to issues and come up with new things in order to self promote there abilities they then have a goal-(paycheck/job) There open and responsive to the community. What is like Apache one of the more common coders decides to leave or perhaps place some bad coding (backdooring etc.) in because they get pissed off.ĮESDR is using QT6 now for V3- that is a very good move since it makes moving forward with new versions quicker and less troublesome especially since it can be applied to all the platforms.Īs far as Support Joesi- by community they get much feedback and I will say unlike another company they acted on it. multiple lines of the same things redundancy-eats processing Hence Thetis seems to be were most of Apache users are moving in terms of software.īy EESDR keeping it in house: things don't get messy and the code is cleaner, which is one reason why the CPU usage of EESDR is much less then the others, bad coding. Which brings me to the why I don't want to see EESDR go open source.Īpache had to many folks writing code and things got messy, now there are few doing anything with the PowerSDr side of things. While Apache Labs based there early success off of PowerSDr an open source code written by Flex there are many rumblings in the Apache world since Ritchie stopped writing code Flex DumbSDr is useless for many that want to really make adjustments- esp on CW (side tone ring a bell- or is that still deaf)
